Signal Fax vs HumbleFax

HumbleFax deserves credit for one thing: they made flat-rate faxing normal at a moment when the incumbents were charging per page and hoping you wouldn't notice. We think that was right. Our disagreement is about what happens after you sign up — the terms, the exits, and whether the service can be used for the documents most people actually fax.

Everything in the HumbleFax column below is drawn from their public site and terms as of . Verify before relying on it; terms change.

If you fax a handful of non-sensitive pages a month and price is the only thing you care about, HumbleFax at $10 is a reasonable deal and we'd rather you were happy there than unhappy here. If you handle patient records, client files, or anything you'd have to explain to a regulator — the extra two dollars buys you a BAA, an audit log, and the right to leave.
